  • Self-Defense Practice And Muscle Memory

Hello Lady warriors coach D here and welcome back to Lady’s N Defense Today I would like to discuss a statement which I seem to keep reading and hearing frequently and that statement is “You do not need to master a martial art or spend years training to be able to protect yourself, This is only partially true, The fact if you are attacked, you must use a technique from some form of martial arts or at the very least one or two combinations from boxing or mixed martial arts.
It’s a known fact that most people think and believe that taking a 1 or 2 hour self defense seminar will provide them with the necessary tools to defend themselves, that is so far from truth and reality.

Mastering the martial arts is not a necessity but many hours of practice within a well structured program is a must, you will need time to commit your new found skills to muscle memory.

So what is muscle memory? the ability to reproduce a particular movement without conscious thought, acquired
as a result of frequent repetition of that movement
Great examples of muscle memory would be writing, driving a car or simply riding a bike to be able to perform an action without truly thinking or fully focusing on the particular task. Lets face it to learn anything requires one to practice and practice will eventually lead to mastery or muscle memory.
